SUPERENGAGED NAMED EXCEPTIONAL BY THE 2019 BUSINESS BOOK AWARDS
Last night I attended the 2019 Business Book Awards, and I’m over the moon to announce that SUPERENGAGED picked up top 5 in the ‘HR & Management Category’ and was recognised as one of the most impactful business books written by a woman, placing joint second in the ‘exceptional books by a woman’ category.
The Business Book Awards, which were held at The Grange City Hotel in London, celebrates the work of authors who have shared their industry or market knowledge, experience and expertise in published book form.
These are the first awards for SUPERENGAGED, a book which gives business leaders advice on how to transform business performance by putting people and purpose first (and have a riot while doing it!). The book was self-published and I was left shell-shocked when it went straight to being an Amazon best seller following the launch in October 2018.
Alongside us in the line-up for the HR & Management category was Mind Tools for Managers by James Manktelow & Julian Birkinshaw, The Learning Imperative by Mark Burns & Andy Griffith, Accelerated Leadership Development by Ines Wichert and Data-Driven HR by Bernard Marr. I’m so honoured and humbled to be featured amongst this gang of incredible writers.
I’m also delighted to announce that Propellernet has also been ranked in Campaign’s Top 50 Best Places to Work 2019, coming in at position 27. The magazine’s list of the best employers in the creative industry was launched in 2018, and looks at the ingredients that make agencies desirable to employees. We have ranked both years’ – another reason to celebrate!
SUPERENGAGED contains the learnings and stories I’ve collected over the past 12 years working in the digital sector. I’ve spent the past eight years as the MD of Propellernet, working alongside a fantastic team to co-create a business built on innovation, creativity, adventure, fun and wellbeing, where we actively spend time exploring and talking about new ways of working.
The whole process of writing a book has been a roller coaster of a journey, so to be recognised in this way, and amongst so many other talented authors, really is a dream. When I started writing the book, I didn’t quite realise the magnitude of what I’d taken on, but I’ve loved (almost!) every single minute of it. You can read about the many highs, lows and learnings of that process here.
Since then, I’ve completed another ‘first’ and just finished recording my first ever audiobook version of the title – you can read about my journey through that experience here.
Writing a book is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done, so if you’re a budding author and want some advice before picking up your pen, feel free to drop me a line - I’d love to chat.
And finally, I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback about SUPERENGAGED, so get in touch on twitter @NikkiGatenby or LinkedIn.
